Umbrella Antarctic Base

Also known as the Antarctic Laboratory or Antarctic Transport Terminal, the Antarctic Base was a facility administered by Alexander Ashford. After buying out an abandoned transport terminal and mine, he had it renovated in February 1969 to act as his personal research facility, becoming the main part of Umbrella's operations in Antarctica, essentially becoming a new division; Umbrella Antarctica. The construction and renovation was completed in November 1969. Utilizing the most modern research equipment, Alexander commenced his Code: Veronica project at the site in a secret underground laboratory in an effort to revive his ancestor, Veronica Ashford. Out of this project came the birth of Alfred and Alexia, the latter realising Alexander's dream of the revival of his ancestor that would herald a rebirth of his family's name, which he himself had tarnished.

The facility itself was not limited to the Code: Veronica project, as the facility was also used to develop numerous B.O.W.s including the Black Widow B.O.W. A replica of the Arklay Mansion was also built within the facility, comprised of the mansion's main hall and several rooms and corridors. The facility was also responsible for the transporation of B.O.W.s and other biological materials, utilizing the previous facilities of the abandoned transport terminal.

Alexander himself was infected with the T-Veronica virus in 1982 by Alexia herself, and was imprisoned within his own facility. Following the crash landing of several transport planes from Rockfort Island, the T-virus was leaked throughout the entire facility decimating it entirely. It was later destroyed following the activation of the self-destruct sequence (with the passcode set as "Veronica") due to the efforts of Claire Redfield and her older brother, Chris Redfield.

Antarctic Research Facility
The Umbrella Antarctic Research Facility was hidden deep within the Antarctic Base, billed as a secret project by Alexander Ashford. The facility itself was hidden behind the Arklay Mansion replica within the facility, and was the center piece of the Code: Veronica project and birthplace of Alfred and Alexia. Unlike the rest of Umbrella's collective research facilities, the Antarctic facility was not focused on B.O.W. research. Instead, the facility was used for cloning and genetic manipulation in an effort to "revive" Veronica Ashford.
